CORONA, THE VIRUS THAT HAS TAKEN THE INTERNET BY STORM

 Since the outbreak of Corona virus,there have been over a million tweets on the virus all over the world, several hashtags on the virus trending for months now.
Netizens have also taken to other social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp to announce the arrival of the novel Corona virus,wuhan China a household name to billions across the globe an overnight zero travel destination.
Some have taken this chance to spread false information and racially discriminate the Chinese as the virus originated from China, videos and pictures doing rounds on social media show people running away from Chinese nationals and calling them names like 'corona'.
There have been many theories developed in social media,a common one being that Corona virus was developed in a lab by a rogue scientist for population control, another which maybe has some truth to it is that Corona virus originated from a fish market in wuhan,china.

Ali Gire,an employee at JKIA took a video of a southern China plane landing at JKIA and uploaded it to twitter,the took Kenyans On Twitter (KOT) into a frenzy prompting the government to temporarily ban all flights from China and then Gire lost his job.
Then came the memes and the Corona virus challenge,it maybe a funny manner of educating the public on how to prevent Corona virus outbreak,songs composed by Kenyans have also gone viral,netizens urging the government to take firm precautions to curb the virus.

World leaders and the world health organization is also using the internet to assure people of their safety and the necessary precautions to be taken to curb the virus from spreading that is apart from self quarantine.

More than a million people maybe locked away from the rest of the world but social Media is a tool,it connects the universe and it plays a major role in containment and control of Corona virus,that is both positive and negative,it's a game changer let's stay back and watch how all this unfolds.
